James H. McFaddin joined Health Management in January 2011 as Director of Government Affairs with responsibility for Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky. As such, he is responsible for representing Health Management’s interests in various state capitols as well as building grassroots efforts in HMA hospitals across the country.

Prior to joining HMA, Mr. McFaddin served as Chief of Staff for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.  As Chief of Staff, Mr. McFaddin was involved in the operations of the Agency including the Florida Medicaid Program, the regulation of Florida’s health care facilities, and the management of the Agency’s $20 billion budget. Mr. McFaddin was also appointed by Florida’s governor to serve as the State Health Information Technology Coordinator.  Prior to being named Chief of Staff, Mr. McFaddin served as the Agency’s Legislative Affairs Director, functioning as the Agency’s chief liaison with the Florida Legislature and the Executive Office of the Governor.

Immediately prior to joining the Agency, Mr. McFaddin served as the Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs for the Executive Office of the Governor in Florida where he worked to develop and coordinate passage of the Governor’s legislative and budget priorities and represented the Governor in working with constituent groups, executive agencies, and stakeholders. Before joining the Governor’s Office, Mr. McFaddin served as a Senior Legislative Analyst in the Florida Senate, specializing in health care and criminal justice policy issues. Mr. McFaddin began his career in Atlanta, Georgia as a Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for the engineering firm URS Corporation.

A native of South Carolina, Mr. McFaddin graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Political Science and Economics.
